Binance Founder Zhao Endorses Crypto Regulatory Passport for ASEAN Region

At the recent 2026 ASEAN Tech Summit in Manila, Philippines, Changpeng Zhao expressed strong support for a unified crypto regulatory passport across the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) region.

The proposed system would allow a crypto business license obtained in one ASEAN member state to be automatically recognized by other member states, simplifying cross-border operations and reducing bureaucratic hurdles for digital asset firms in the region.

Zhao argued that such a framework would 'reduce regulatory duplication, lower costs for crypto firms, and encourage innovation while maintaining oversight standards across the region.'
