Binance Grabs 46% Share as Crypto Spot Trading Volume Plummets 21.7%
The crypto spot trading volume dropped by 21.7% in July, according to a report from WuBlockchain. The combined volume across 14 major exchanges fell to $429 billion, down from $547.9 billion in June. Binance accounted for nearly half of this total with $196.5 billion in spot trades, taking a 45.8% share.
The top three exchanges - Binance, OKX, and Bybit - captured 64% of all spot volume. However, the decline is more telling when looking at individual exchanges. Every single one reported lower volumes, with Uniswap holding up best at just a 9.8% drop.
The disparity in declines points to shifting trader loyalties and thinning liquidity in specific market pockets. Binance's dominance is becoming increasingly pronounced, which can create structural imbalances that feed on themselves.
