Binance, the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange, has handed over data to Russian authorities about one of its clients who donated to the Ukrainian military. The client in question is Yuri Belyenko, a Russian citizen accused by Russia of financing 'terrorism.' According to reports, Belyenko transferred more than $700 to the Ukrainian military.

Belyenko worked in the IT sector and was detained by Russian law enforcement in September 2025. By October, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation reported that he had transferred over $700 to Ukrainian soldiers from the 'Azov' unit.

The transfer of information drew attention because Binance previously announced that it would completely cease operations in Russia back in 2023. However, the company's spokesperson stated that they cooperate with law enforcement agencies and respond to lawful requests for information in accordance with applicable legal, privacy, and regulatory requirements.
