Binance Issues Scam Warning Amid Rise in Phishing Attacks
Binance has issued a critical scam warning to its users, cautioning them against phishing attacks that target cryptocurrency investors. The exchange's team revealed that attackers send fake 'security alert' text messages to trick users into clicking malicious links.
The scammers often disguise their notifications as official, using phrases like 'Your account settings were changed: or 'Suspicious login detected.' They create a sense of urgency by asking users to 'verify immediately,' which can lead to devastating losses if the user falls for it.
Binance clarified that it will never ask users to tap a link in a text message to 'verify' or 'secure' their account. To enhance protection, the exchange advised its clients to follow three vital steps: checking unfamiliar links using Binance Verify, turning on Withdrawal Address Whitelist, and enabling Anti-Phishing Code.
