Binance Limits Commodity Futures Trading to Weekdays
Binance has announced that it will be restricting commodity perpetual futures trading to weekdays only. Starting September 15 at 21:00 UTC, the exchange will no longer offer round-the-clock trading on its commodity-based perpetual contracts.
The affected contracts include those tied to gold (XAUUSDT), silver (XAGUSDT), WTI crude oil (CLUSDT), Brent crude (BZUSDT), natural gas (NATGASUSDT), platinum, palladium, and copper. These contracts will now follow a 24/5 schedule, mirroring the traditional commodity markets they are designed to track.
This change is part of Binance's efforts to align its TradFi perpetual products with their underlying markets. The exchange had already introduced an Orderbook Exponentially Weighted Moving Average (EWMA) pricing mechanism in May 2026, which weights recent order book activity more heavily to generate prices during off-hours.
The decision also affects position management for traders holding commodity perps. They will need to account for the fact that positions can't be adjusted over weekends. A geopolitical event on a Saturday that moves oil prices won't be tradable on Binance until markets reopen.
