Binance-Only Bitcoin Price Drop Sparks Fears Over Trading Infrastructure

Veteran trader Peter Brandt has raised concerns about the reliability of trading infrastructure after a sharp Bitcoin drop that occurred only on Binance. The incident, which took place on August 22, saw Bitcoin's price plummet to $72,500 on Binance's 1-hour BTC/USD chart, while the broader market held around $79,000.

A gap was confirmed by comparing prices across exchanges, with Coinbase's low in the same time window at $75,800. The price difference between the two exchanges widened to as much as $3,300, creating conditions for margin exhaustion and stop-loss orders on Binance.

Brandt described the incident as another example of a problem at Binance, stating that retail traders were stopped out at prices far below the actual market low. He claimed that Binance had again found a way to push its customers 'over the cliff.'
