Binance Overtakes xStocks in Tokenized Stock Market
Binance's tokenized stock offering, bStocks, has surpassed xStocks to become the second-largest issuer of tokenized stocks by market capitalization. According to Token Terminal data, bStocks now holds a $610.6 million market cap, representing 22.1% of the entire sector.
This growth is particularly remarkable considering that bStocks launched in June and has managed to surpass xStocks, which had been holding the second position for nearly a year. Ondo Finance remains the leader in this category with a $951.8 million market cap and 34.4% share.
The tokenized stock market as a whole has experienced significant growth, increasing from $569.76 million at the start of the year to around $2.8 billion today, a staggering 391% increase. While xStocks grew by approximately 228%, its share of the pie shrunk due to the overall expansion of the sector.
Binance's success can be attributed to its ability to reach new buyers who were previously unaware of this market, rather than stealing customers away from competitors. The convenience and accessibility offered by bStocks, which allows users to buy tokenized stocks within the Binance app like any other spot token, have likely contributed to its rapid growth.
