Binance Philippines Rolls Out Services in Partnership with Blockshoals
Binance Philippines is gearing up to launch its services in the country, partnering with local fintech firm Blockshoals Technologies Inc. The partnership, which aims to bring Binance's global technology and expertise to the Philippine market, has obtained approval from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to undergo testing as a Crypto Asset Intermediary (CAI) under a two-year sandbox phase.
The SEC's Regulatory Sandbox Framework will allow regulators to observe live mechanics, evaluate risk management controls, and collect data to inform permanent policy standards. Binance Asia Pacific head SB Seker stated that the reason for choosing this pathway is 'because it slows things down enough and provides enough data visibility to the regulator to make constant intuitive decisions on which products are suitable for the market in general.'
The services will be rolled out in the next couple of months, with Blackshoals taking primary responsibility for local customer due diligence (CDD) and know-your-customer (KYC) verification. Binance Philippines general manager Jen Bilango said that she wants to see Binance Philippines become an integral part of people's financial lives, not just a trading platform.
