Binance Restricts Transactions with Iran-Linked Crypto Platforms

Binance has announced restrictions on transactions involving 16 cryptocurrency service providers, affecting users who send funds to or receive assets from these platforms.

The restrictions took effect at different times for each platform: Shelbit and Aban Tether were affected as of August 7, while others such as HTX, EXMO, Rapira, and Aifory Pro will no longer be processed after August 23.

The move is part of a broader campaign by Western governments to target Iranian and Russian cryptocurrency networks. The U.S. Treasury Department imposed sanctions on Shelbit for allegedly exchanging more than $3 million with Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps addresses, while Aban Tether was targeted for processing transactions involving previously designated Iranian exchanges.

Binance has expanded its compliance operations in response to the increased scrutiny, hiring over 1,500 staff to review transactions and ensure adherence to regulations. The company warns that users may face delays or reviews of their wallets if they attempt to transfer assets to restricted platforms after the deadline.
