Binance Routes Law Enforcement Requests Through UAE
The Brooklyn District Attorney's office is facing a delay in accessing user records from Binance due to the exchange's new data-request policy. Under this policy, most foreign law enforcement requests must be processed through UAE authorities or formal Mutual Legal Assistance Treaties (MLATs).
Binance implemented this policy in April 2025, citing its regulation under the Abu Dhabi Global Market as a basis for routing requests through UAE agencies.
The Brooklyn DA's office has expressed concern about the delay in accessing records, with Assistant DA Alona Katz stating that 'how fast you get your records determines the outcome of your case.'
The Department of Justice has also flagged concerns about reduced cooperation from Binance on urgent asset freezes and seizures. European investigators have reportedly encountered similar issues.
