Binance Seeks UK Return Under New Crypto Rules
Binance is eyeing a return to the UK market after several years of regulatory constraints. The exchange plans to apply for Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) approval under Britain's new crypto regime, which opens applications on September 30, 2026.
The FCA has set October 25, 2027 as the effective date for the new framework, which requires crypto companies to have a UK presence and meet governance and compliance standards. Binance is expected to establish a UK board as part of its preparations.
The exchange stopped onboarding new British customers in 2023 due to changes in financial-promotion rules. This move would give Binance a route back into the market, where it has faced regulatory barriers since 2021 when the FCA barred its UK entity from undertaking regulated activities.
