Binance Sets New Standard for Compliance in Digital Assets
Binance is setting a new standard for compliance in digital assets and going beyond what's required by traditional financial institutions. Founded in 2017, Binance has grown to serve over 320 million users across 100+ regions, including markets across Africa.
Digital assets are becoming increasingly popular in West Africa, with Binance at the forefront of this trend. To ensure user safety and trust, Binance has built a robust compliance program that goes beyond what's expected of traditional financial institutions.
Binance operates under the Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM) Financial Services Regulatory Authority, one of the most respected financial regulators in the world. This framework covers exchange operations, custody of user assets, and clearing and settlement, with separate regulated entities for each function.
To provide transparency and security, Binance publishes regular reports showing that user assets are backed one-to-one or better through its Proof of Reserves system. Additionally, it maintains the Secure Asset Fund for Users (SAFU), an emergency reserve held in a public wallet to protect users in case of a security incident.
In Burkina Faso and across the region, Binance is committed to setting high standards for compliance and user protection. According to Samukele Mkhize, Compliance Lead Binance Africa, 'compliance is not a box to tick. It is a continuous commitment to doing the right thing for users, regulators, and the communities we serve.'
