Binance Smart Chain Boosts Throughput by 88%
Binance Smart Chain (BSC) has undergone an upgrade that boosts its throughput to 2,324 transactions per second (TPS), a significant increase of 88% from its previous rate of 1,237 TPS.
The upgrade is due to BEP-675, which allows block builders to submit fully executed blocks instead of bids. This eliminates the need for validators to re-execute blocks before sealing them, thereby reducing redundant execution and increasing throughput.
The test was conducted on QANet, an internal testnet that mirrors BSC's cross-region validator topology. The results show that BEP-675 has increased throughput without changing the block interval or finality lag.
This upgrade is part of BNB Chain's H2 2026 roadmap, which aims to double mainnet throughput and eventually increase it by a factor of ten. The next step will be testing whether these gains can be replicated at the mainnet scale alongside other upgrades.
