Binance Smart Chain Boosts Throughput by 88% in Groundbreaking Upgrade
The Binance Smart Chain (BSC) has made significant strides in increasing its throughput, reaching an impressive 2,324 transactions per second (TPS). This is a notable improvement from its previous benchmark of 1,237 TPS, representing an 88% increase. The upgrade is the result of testing BEP-675 on QANet, an internal testnet that mirrors BSC's cross-region validator topology.
The BEP-675 protocol allows block builders to submit fully executed blocks instead of bids, which enables validators to skip re-executing them before sealing. This streamlined process has led to the remarkable increase in throughput without altering the 450ms block interval or finality lag.
This upgrade is part of BNB Chain's H2 2026 roadmap, which also includes further performance tuning and integration with Block-Level Access Lists (BAL) to strengthen builder processing efficiency. The ultimate goal is a 10x improvement in throughput across BNB Chain, with the immediate objective being a 2x increase on the mainnet.
