Binance Smart Chain Sees Massive Throughput Boost with BEP-675 Upgrade
The Binance Smart Chain (BSC) has seen a significant boost in throughput, thanks to an upgrade dubbed BEP-675. According to the official $BNB Chain X account, the testnet on QANet has experienced an 88% increase in transactions per second (TPS), jumping from 1,237 to 2,324 TPS.
The upgrade eliminates redundant block execution, allowing validators to skip re-executing blocks before sealing. This improvement does not come at the cost of increased gas limits or shorter block intervals, which remain unchanged at 450ms and finality lag.
As part of its H2 2026 roadmap, $BNB Chain aims to double mainnet throughput, with a long-term goal of achieving a 10x improvement across the BNB Chain ecosystem. The next step is to test whether these gains will hold at mainnet scale and alongside other upgrades planned for this year.
BEP-675 will be implemented along with further performance tuning to boost network capacity. Additionally, builder processing efficiency will be strengthened through BAL integration and EVM execution refinements.
