Binance Stablecoin Inflows Surge to $1 Billion as Year-to-Date Outflows Persist
Binance's stablecoin inflows saw a significant improvement in August with over $1 billion recorded, but year-to-date outflows remain above $5 billion.
The increase is a notable shift from the cumulative withdrawal trend seen earlier in the year. However, the remaining $5.1 billion year-to-date outflow from Binance and the more than $16 billion decline across major exchanges indicate that the broader liquidity picture remains weaker than at the start of the year.
Despite continued stablecoin outflows, Bitcoin gained about 25% in August and reclaimed the $75,000 level. The move demonstrates that Bitcoin's price performance has not depended solely on rising stablecoin balances on centralized exchanges.
The concentration of stablecoin flows across Binance, which accounts for around 71% of exchange flows, gives changes in Binance's stablecoin balances particular relevance when assessing liquidity available within centralized crypto markets. However, the question remains whether August's $1 billion-plus inflow will develop into a sustained recovery or remain a temporary reversal.
