Binance Tackles Africa's High Cross-Border Payment Fees with Direct Trading

Africans pay some of the highest fees in the world when sending money across borders. According to the World Bank, transferring $200 within Sub-Saharan Africa costs an average of 8.78 percent of the amount sent, almost nine cents out of every dollar. This is more than anywhere else globally, where the average cost is 6.49 percent.

Binance, a leading blockchain ecosystem and cryptocurrency exchange, believes it can help change this by leveraging its direct trading service, P2P. By connecting buyers and sellers directly, Binance provides security and verifies both parties before holding the seller's crypto in escrow until payment is confirmed.

This approach has become the standard for users converting local currency into crypto and back again in markets where direct bank deposits into exchanges are limited. Larry Cooke, Binance Africa, notes that this method creates a digital rail that works across borders, verified and traceable at every step.
