Binance Targets UK Return with FCA License Bid
Binance is gearing up to re-enter the UK market by seeking a license from the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). The exchange plans to apply for an FCA license under the new digital-asset regime and is considering resuming some services for UK users in 2027.
The FCA's regulatory framework gives firms until February 28, 2027, to submit license applications, with the rules taking effect on October 25, 2027. This means that Binance has a limited window to apply for and obtain the necessary licenses before the new regulations come into force.
Binance's decision to seek an FCA license comes after the exchange was banned from operating in the UK in June 2021. The company later stopped onboarding new UK users in 2023 in response to the FCA's financial promotions rules.
