Binance Trader Loses $5 Million Amid Sudden Price Surge
A trader on Binance's AKEUSDT perpetual futures contract claimed losses of over $5 million after his positions were liquidated within minutes on September 3. The trader alleged that a coordinated short squeeze, rather than normal market activity, caused the sudden price surge.
The price of Akedo (AKE) skyrocketed from around $0.0076 to nearly $0.045 during the session, representing a rise of approximately 492% in just a short period of time.
Binance denied any system errors and attributed the liquidations to market volatility and the risks associated with leveraged trading.
