Binance Traders Reach Record Unrealized Profits on ETF and DAT Surge
Ki Young Ju, founder and CEO of CryptoQuant, has noted that seasoned Bitcoin traders have achieved their highest level of unrealized profits yet. This surge in profits is largely attributed to the influx of exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and dollar-pegged stablecoins (DATs). In contrast to previous cycles where crypto exchange traders often served as exit liquidity, recent gains were instead driven by these new market participants.
According to Ki Young Ju, Binance traders have reached record unrealized profits, with figures almost three times greater than the top levels recorded in 2021. This shift in market dynamics is a departure from previous cycles, where crypto exchange traders often acted as exit liquidity. The influx of ETFs and DATs has led to a significant increase in profit margins for seasoned traders.
The recent profitable cycle for exchange traders follows an earlier trend noted by Ki Young Ju, where Bitcoin's rally was driven by futures activity while spot demand remained negative. He also observed that hedge funds on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) had turned net long on BTC futures, marking an uncommon shift in institutional positioning.
