Binance Unleashes Red Team to Simulate Phishing Attacks on Employees
Binance has implemented a rigorous security measure to safeguard its global workforce against increasingly sophisticated social engineering threats. The exchange's 'red team' conducts mandatory monthly phishing simulation attacks, designed to test employees' awareness and vigilance.
The simulations mimic real-world cybercriminal tactics, including fake recruiter inquiries, counterfeit event invitations, and malicious video-conferencing updates. Employees who fall for the lures are required to undergo targeted remediation training. However, repeat failures can result in job termination due to their impact on internal performance reviews.
According to Chief Security Officer Jimmy Su, Binance views human risk management as a critical component of its defensive security infrastructure. The firm's leadership noted that early testing revealed significant gaps in security hygiene, but persistent monthly simulations have led to measurable improvements across the organization.
