Binance.US, a licensed and regulated cryptocurrency exchange in the United States, is planning to enter the prediction market industry. CEO Stephen Gregory announced at the Rare Evo Blockchain AI Conference that the company will seek regulatory approval to offer event contracts.

The US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) license application could be submitted as early as August. If approved, Binance.US would be allowed to legally offer event contracts, which are a type of derivative enabling users to speculate on real-world events such as elections, economic indicators, sports, and entertainment.

This move comes as prediction markets continue to grow in the US, with companies like Robinhood and Coinbase reporting strong growth. Binance.US aims to regain its position after facing challenges due to regulatory scrutiny involving its global parent company.
