Binance US Targets CFTC Approval for Prediction Markets Expansion
Binance US is expanding its services beyond cryptocurrency trading by targeting regulatory approval to enter the prediction markets sector.
The exchange plans to apply for a Designated Contract Market (DCM) license with the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), which would allow it to offer regulated event-based contracts, enabling users to trade on the outcomes of future events rather than traditional financial assets.
Binance US CEO Steve Gregory confirmed the company intends to submit its CFTC application next month during the Rare Evo blockchain conference.
The move reflects a wider industry trend as crypto exchanges seek to evolve into comprehensive trading platforms, offering a broader range of regulated investment products.
