Binance vs OKX: CZ and Xu Clash Over Decade-Old Contract Dispute
A public feud has erupted between Binance founder Changpeng Zhao and OKX founder Star Xu on social media platform X, with allegations of fraud, dishonesty, and personal misconduct. The dispute revolves around a decade-old contract dispute involving early Bitcoin investor Roger Ver.
Xu claimed that Zhao misrepresented events from his 2015 stint at OKCoin, the predecessor to OKX, in his recently published memoir. He pointed to a video showing conflicting contract versions from that period and accused Zhao of being 'a habitual liar' who 'never changes.'
Zhao responded by denying the allegations in a Reddit post in May 2015 and detailing problems he observed at OKCoin. However, Xu questioned whether Zhao had misrepresented his marital status, referencing earlier reporting where Zhao's spouse was described as his 'wife' in a letter submitted to a judge.
Zhao offered a $1 billion wager that his divorce had been finalized, giving Xu a 24-hour deadline to accept, but Xu rejected the bet citing regulatory standards and compliance obligations.
