Binance Warns of Phishing Text Messages Targeting Users
Binance issued a warning about an increase in phishing attacks targeting its users via text messages. The fraudulent messages claim that account settings have changed or suspicious login activity has occurred and direct recipients to 'verify' or 'secure' their accounts through shortened links.
The exchange emphasized that it never asks customers to verify or secure accounts through text links. Binance recommended using its verification tool, Binance Verify, to check the authenticity of websites, emails, phone numbers, social media accounts, and other contacts before entering account information or contacting customer support.
The company also reminded users to enable its withdrawal address whitelist, which restricts transfers to wallet addresses approved by the account holder. Additionally, Binance advised activating its anti-phishing code, a personalized security feature that includes a unique code in legitimate emails to prevent phishing attempts.
