Binance Whale Inflow Ratio Surges to Four-Month High
Bitcoin's price has been trading in a narrow range between $63,000 and $64,000 as of late. However, despite this stability, a key metric is flashing warning signs. Binance's Whale Inflow Ratio, which measures the share of large investor deposits relative to those from retail investors, has reached its highest level in four months.
According to Darkfost, a contributor to CryptoQuant, the Whale Inflow Ratio rose to 0.52 on August 5. This indicates that whale investors are increasingly depositing Bitcoin into Binance, which could put upward pressure on selling activity and potentially weigh on prices.
However, it's essential to note that this metric does not necessarily signal a price decline. Darkfost points out that sharp increases in the Whale Inflow Ratio have historically appeared near market tops and bottoms marked by extreme fear and capitulation.
