Binance's BTC Holdings Surge to Two-Year High Amid Rising Selling Pressure
Binance's Bitcoin reserves have hit a two-year high, reaching over 693,000 BTC. This surge is largely attributed to investors transferring their Bitcoin to Binance during periods of strong price appreciation, such as the May and August rallies.
The rise in exchange balances can sometimes indicate that potential selling supply is building up, but it's not a confirmation of an impending sell-off. According to CryptoQuant, this could be due to traders moving their BTC to established platforms for easier execution of large trades.
Another reason for the surge could be Binance's SAFU fund, which aims to protect users in extreme situations by securing 15,000 BTC worth of Bitcoin with a $1 billion reserve. Additionally, the rise in scams and hacks has led some holders to temporarily move their Bitcoin to established third-party platforms.
The increase in available supply could potentially create downward pressure on price if a large portion of the 693,000 BTC held on Binance enters the market for sale. This comes as Bitcoin's supply growth surges at a faster pace in 2026 than in previous years.
