Binance's BTC Reserves Surge as Scams and Hacks Fuel Temporary Transfers
Binance's Bitcoin holdings have reached a two-year high of over 693,000 BTC. This surge in reserves is largely due to investors transferring their coins to Binance during periods of strong price appreciation.
The recent May and August rallies are likely responsible for this influx, as investors tend to move their BTC to exchanges to make large trades easier when expecting to sell.
However, a rising exchange balance does not necessarily confirm selling pressure. Some analysts attribute the increase in Binance's reserves to its deep liquidity, making it an attractive platform for traders buying or selling substantial amounts of BTC with minimal market impact.
The Secure Asset Fund for Users (SAFU) may also be a contributing factor. This emergency protection mechanism aims to protect users by deploying $1 billion to secure approximately 15,000 BTC, providing a safeguard against potential losses.
