Binance's CZ: Available Bitcoin Supply May Be Substantially Lower Than Expected
Binance's founder Changpeng Zhao has sparked debate about Bitcoin's scarcity as the next halving event approaches.
CZ estimates that over 20.07 million out of a total of 21 million Bitcoin have been mined, leaving just 4.4% of the maximum supply yet to be mined.
This leaves room for speculation on the actual amount of available Bitcoin in circulation.
CZ suggests that between 10% and 20% of existing Bitcoin may be lost or irrecoverable due to factors such as private keys being lost or funds becoming inaccessible.
