Binance's Dominance Continues Amid Market Shift
The cryptocurrency market has seen significant concentration of exchange volume, with Binance dominating the scene. The exchange accounted for 29.42% of the total tracked monthly volume, amounting to over $1.803 trillion. The top five exchanges - Binance, OKX, BitMart, Gate, and Bybit - collectively account for 67.85% of the total volume.
Derivatives trading plays a crucial role in this concentration, with derivatives volume vastly outweighing spot volume on major platforms. For instance, Binance's derivatives volume is nearly six times its spot volume. This trend indicates that margin, futures, and other leveraged products are driving trading activity rather than direct spot asset purchases.
OKX experienced the most substantial outflow of capital, losing over $5.106 billion in net assets, representing a staggering -28.04% decrease in their total balance. Binance followed with a major outflow of over $1.927 billion. Several smaller exchanges suffered severe proportional losses, indicating a crisis of confidence or targeted withdrawal from those platforms.
The PoR (Proof of Reserves) analysis reveals that Binance and OKX command the vast majority of assets, holding over 83% of the total tracked PoR value. The top two exchanges are followed by Bybit, Gate, and HTX, which have significantly smaller shares.
