Binance's Traditional-Asset Perpetual Futures Volume Surges 15x to $445 Billion in July
Binance's traditional-asset perpetual futures volume surged 15 times in July to $445 billion, making it the dominant venue for crypto-native derivatives tied to real-world financial instruments. The exchange's TradFi Perps suite, launched in January, offers perpetual futures contracts on commodities like gold and silver, individual equities, and ETFs, all settled in USDT and available 24/7 with leverage ranging from 20x to 50x.
By late July, Binance had launched 146 TradFi trading pairs. ETF-linked perpetual contracts have been a standout, with cumulative volume reaching $116 billion by July and Binance commanding a 74% share of that segment.
The products offer traders 24/7 access to traditional assets, allowing them to take leveraged positions outside of traditional market hours. However, 50x leverage on traditional assets carries significant risk, as a 2% adverse move would wipe out a fully leveraged position entirely.
