BIP-110 Bitcoin Fork Proposal Hits Roadblock
A Bitcoin fork proposal, BIP-110, has stalled as the gap between the main chain and the BIP-110-enforcing chain widens to 169 blocks. The BIP-110 branch mined two blocks since splitting from the main chain at block 961,632 on Saturday.
According to bip110monitor.com, signalling for the proposal had reached 2.53% in the period ending at block 961,632, but has since dropped to zero in the current period. The activation window closes on September 1st, having opened on December 1st, 2025.
BIP-110 aims to cap data-carrying fields for about a year by limiting new script outputs to 34 bytes and capping witness items at 256 bytes. Coins already in wallets before activation would be exempt from the new limits.
