BIP-110 Enforcer Branch Grinds to Halt with Meager Two-Block Output
The Bitcoin branch enforcing BIP-110 has stalled at block 961,633 after producing only two blocks. This is despite the mandatory signaling requirement that began at block 961,632 on Saturday.
According to the BIP-110 monitor, the latest block was mined about 12 hours before the update at 10:19 am UTC. The initial two blocks were produced by a pseudonymous mining group called Roughnecks using Ocean's Decentralized Alternative Templates for Universal Mining (DATUM) protocol.
The divergence between the enforcing and non-enforcing branches has widened to 88 blocks, with the latter advancing to block 961,721. BIP-110 has faced opposition from prominent Bitcoin advocates, including Michael Saylor, who expressed concerns about its approach threatening neutral rules and consensus.
