BIP-110 Mining Threshold Not Met, Proposal Risks Stalling
Bitcoin Improvement Proposal (BIP) 110 has failed to meet its voluntary 55% signaling threshold, according to Michael Saylor. At block 961,022, the proposal received only 38 signals, equivalent to 2.70% support. This means that major miners have not signaled their support for the proposal.
Saylor notes that unless these miners reverse their stance, BIP-110 may stall or fork into irrelevance. He encourages backers of the proposal to stand down and allow Bitcoin to continue functioning as normal.
This development underscores ongoing discussion around protocol changes and network stability in the Bitcoin community. Saylor has previously warned that BIP-110 could invalidate some valid, fee-paying transactions due to spam concerns.
