BIP-110 Voluntary Miner Consensus Threshold Missed
Bitcoin Improvement Proposal (BIP) 110 has failed to reach its voluntary miner consensus threshold of 55%, according to Michael Saylor, Strategy Executive Chairman. The proposal needs 1,109 signaling blocks within a two-thousand-sixteen-block difficulty period to lock in voluntarily. By August 2, the public BIP-110 monitor counted 28 signals among 1,108 blocks, or 2.53%. Every signal came from DATUM miners sharing rewards through OCEAN's system.
Saylor said that even if every remaining block in the current period signals, the total could reach only 936, making it mathematically unreachable to meet the threshold this period. He argued that the observed count was not miner consensus.
