BIS Tests XRP Ledger for On-Chain Official Statistics Verification
The Bank for International Settlements (BIS) has published a working paper that explores using the XRP Ledger to verify official statistics on-chain. The study, titled Working Paper No 1374, aims to provide a proof-of-concept for how statistical agencies can offer users an independent way to check the origin and integrity of published data without changing their existing dissemination systems.
The BIS researchers recorded cryptographic fingerprints of public datasets that publish in three to five seconds and verify in one to two seconds. This suggests that using the XRP Ledger could provide improved data security and practical use within the crypto infrastructure, potentially leading to institutional adoption.
