BIS Uses XRP Ledger for Real-Time Data Verification
The Bank for International Settlements (BIS) has published a working paper that explores using the XRP Ledger to anchor tamper-evident fingerprints of official economic data.
The BIS Working Paper No. 1374, released on September 2, addresses a gap in SDMX, which is the standard institutions use to exchange official statistics. Currently, SDMX has no native cryptographic integrity check.
Researchers built dataset fingerprints, compressed them into a Merkle root, and anchored that root on XRPL using a public DevNet node.
The median publication times were 3-5 seconds, while verification took 1-2 seconds. Analyst Diana from InvestWithD flagged the experiment publicly.
