Swiss hardware wallet manufacturer BitBox has announced that it has discovered two critical vulnerabilities in its device firmware. The company revealed during internal audits that multiple security flaws were present, which could have allowed malicious parties to prompt users to install fraudulent firmware and gain access to their funds.

The vulnerabilities could have been exploited by attackers to unlock devices and potentially drain users' funds. To counter the risk, BitBox released a Dixence update, which users can install through the BitBoxApp by accessing the settings menu. The company stressed the urgency for all users to update their BitBoxApp and device firmware without delay.

Mishaboar, a well-known figure in the Dogecoin community, has issued a security advisory to Bitcoin holders, urging them not to delay the update. He also advised that anyone performing the firmware upgrade should use a clean or newly set up computer to reduce the risk of malware interference during installation.
