Bitcoin Accumulation Collides with Q3 Macro Pressure
Coinbase Institutional and Glassnode have released their Q3 2026 crypto outlook, predicting a neutral market performance despite early signs of Bitcoin accumulation. The report is based on over 25 charts covering on-chain activity, institutional flows, macro conditions, and cross-asset correlations.
The total crypto market capitalization, excluding stablecoins, fell by about 12% during the second quarter. Stablecoin supply reached record levels during the same period, suggesting that some sellers moved into dollar-linked tokens instead of withdrawing from the crypto market completely.
Bitcoin's relationship with traditional assets has changed sharply, with its 90-day correlation with the S&P 500 dropping to 0.12 from 0.58 in the fourth quarter of 2025. Its correlation with gold, however, climbed to 0.57, indicating that Bitcoin is now trading more like a store of value driven by interest rates and available liquidity.
On-chain data suggests that the correction may be entering an accumulation stage, with coins last moved within the previous three months remaining close to multi-year lows. The share of Bitcoin supply held at a profit has fallen beneath its lower statistical band.
