Bitcoin Accumulation Signs Emerge Amidst Downturn
The Bitcoin market is showing signs of entering an accumulation phase, according to a report from Glassnode in collaboration with Coinbase Institutional. The firms suggest that this may be the early stages of a potential bottoming process, rather than a durable low.
The global crypto market cap fell by around 12% in Q2, while stablecoin supply reached record highs as investors rotated into defensive assets amid volatility. This divergence from traditional stores of value is reflected in Bitcoin's growing correlation with gold, which increased to 0.57 during the same period.
On-chain data also points to accumulation, with the MVRV ratio approaching 1 and the share of supply held in profit falling below its lower statistical band. This reduction in speculative activity and increase in long-term holder conviction is consistent with an accumulation phase rather than a distribution one.
