Bitcoin Address Count Hits 57 Million Amid Ongoing Adoption Growth
The number of Bitcoin addresses holding at least a small amount of BTC has reached a new milestone. As of July 30, 2026, there are approximately 56.92 million such addresses. This figure represents individuals, institutions, and entities that have decided to hold some form of the cryptocurrency.
This growth is significant when compared to previous years. In 2017, fewer than 10 million addresses held any Bitcoin at all. By 2024, this number had crossed 50 million, indicating a doubling every few years despite market fluctuations.
The monthly net additions of new non-zero balance addresses have also been steady, with an average of around 150,000 per month in the weeks leading up to September 2026. Different analytics platforms peg the count between 56.78 and nearly 59 million, depending on methodology.
