Bitcoin Analyst Sounds Alarm on Persistently Low Social Interest
Bitcoin analyst Benjamin Cowen has been tracking social interest in crypto and found it to be persistently low, even compared to prior bear markets. In a recent video, he pointed out that Google Trends and Wikipedia search activity for Bitcoin have not rebounded as expected.
Cowen suggested that this could reflect a structural reputation problem rather than a normal cyclical lull. He noted that social interest has kept falling despite past lows being accompanied by a rebound in search and app-store activity.
The analyst pointed to the early 2010s, when gold's social interest was similarly depressed before a multiyear bull run. He also mentioned thematic exchange-traded funds (ETFs), which historically underperform for years after launch.
Cowen's own approach remains dollar-cost averaging into Bitcoin during the back half of midterm-election years, an approach that echoes an earlier call for a Q4 Bitcoin bottom near $44,000.
