Bitcoin Bancorp Lands 2,400+ ATMs in $620K Deal with Defunct Bitcoin Depot
Bitcoin Bancorp has made significant strides in expanding its physical network and intellectual property portfolio by acquiring defunct Bitcoin Depot's key assets for $620,000. The acquisition includes approximately 2,446 ATM kiosks and a range of digital assets such as trademarks, patents, and the BitcoinDepot.com domain.
The court-approved transactions also encompass floorspace agreements and parts inventory, with portions already closed and the remaining deals expected to be completed next quarter. Bitcoin Depot had operated around 9,700 owned and leased ATMs across 48 US states, 10 Canadian provinces, and six Australian states by the end of 2022.
The acquisition is seen as a strategic move for Bitcoin Bancorp, allowing it to tap into an established physical network and leverage additional intellectual property to accelerate expansion. This move could also reduce the resources required to build comparable infrastructure from scratch, providing a competitive edge in the market.
