Bitcoin Bancorp Scoops Up Deposed Crypto ATM Giant's Assets for Pennies on the Dollar
Bitcoin Depot's bankruptcy sale has seen its assets acquired by Bitcoin Bancorp for a fraction of their original value. The company purchased over 2,500 cryptocurrency ATMs for $620,750, significantly lower than the machines' previous valuation of over $26 million.
The sale is part of Bitcoin Depot's Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings, which were triggered after a 49% revenue decline in Q1 this year. CEO Alex Holmes attributed the company's collapse to tightening regulations and compliance burdens that made its business model unsustainable.
Bitcoin Bancorp, a small digital asset company based in Las Vegas, plans to use the acquired ATMs to speed up its expansion without needing to build infrastructure from scratch. The acquisition gives the company control of a physical network far larger than anything it could have built on its own.
