Bitcoin Bear Market Bottom Forming in 2026, Predicts VanEck CEO
VanEck's CEO Jan van Eck believes that Bitcoin is close to its cyclical low due to the four-year halving cycle. This cycle has a significant impact on prices, with a massive drop in the fourth year. Van Eck states that 2026 is this year, and therefore, we are currently in a bear market.
According to van Eck, analysts have overcomplicated the price decline by looking beyond the cycle itself. He emphasizes that Bitcoin's supply is capped at 21 million and that the halving mechanism is the dominant force shaping price behavior over time.
Van Eck also addressed the recent Bitcoin recovery in the context of rising geopolitical tensions. He speculates that the conflict may be a partial driver of renewed interest in crypto, citing the role of crypto payment rails in moving funds outside the traditional banking system during periods of economic uncertainty.
