Bitcoin Beats XRP in Dollar-Cost Averaging Despite Larger Price Drop
Bitcoin and XRP have seen significant price drops since their respective peaks in 2025. To compare their performance, we can look at how dollar-cost averaging (DCA) into each asset has affected returns.
XRP's DCA started three months earlier than Bitcoin's, with $1,400 invested over 14 months to accumulate approximately 819 XRP tokens. Despite the appeal dismissal and ETF launches that normally would have lifted prices, XRP fell through every good news event, ultimately resulting in a loss of about 41.5%.
On the other hand, Bitcoin's DCA saw a loss of only 16.5% over 11 months. This is despite Bitcoin's own price drop of 49% from its peak. The key difference lies in how each asset performed during periods of decline and recovery.
