Bitcoin Beats XRP in Dollar-Cost Averaging Test Amid Market Declines
Dollar-cost averaging (DCA) strategies for Bitcoin and XRP were put to the test from their respective peak prices in July and October 2025. The results show that while both cryptos have fallen significantly, Bitcoin has held up better with a loss of 16.5% compared to XRP's 41.5%. Starting three months after its peak price, investing $100 into Bitcoin every month would have yielded around $919 at current prices, whereas the same strategy for XRP resulted in a loss of about $581 over the last 14 months.
Despite regulatory clarity and the launch of spot XRP ETFs, which normally would have lifted the price, XRP fell through every good news. The crypto's price has kept falling and every rally has faded due to ongoing U.S. and Iran tensions and uncertainty over the CLARITY Act. However, if the cloture vote on September 15 is successful, XRP could potentially rally towards $1.50 to $2, cutting its loss to about 12.3% or turning it into a 17% gain.
Bitcoin's price has also fallen from its peak but recovered some losses after hitting a low of $68,100 in March 2026. The June low was the best buying month for Bitcoin, with a $100 investment buying more than twice as much BTC as at the $126,000 peak. At current prices, the DCA strategy for Bitcoin has resulted in a loss of around 16.5%.
