Bitcoin Bet Outshines Nvidia for Potential 10-Year Gains
Nvidia's incredible success has captivated investors worldwide, with its stock price skyrocketing to nearly $5.5 trillion in market capitalization. The company's dominance is attributed to its virtual monopoly on graphics processing units for AI models, as well as its aggressive pricing power and notable operating leverage.
Despite its impressive financial performance, including a 211% increase in net income last fiscal year, Nvidia's stock may not be the best bet for long-term growth. Its valuation is already high at a forward price-to-earnings ratio of 25.6, and its success is heavily dependent on the ongoing data center boom.
On the other hand, Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy), which owns $54 billion worth of Bitcoin, has seen its stock cut in half this year due to the Bitcoin bear market. However, history suggests that Bitcoin experiences boom-and-bust cycles every four years, and past data indicates that it will reach a bottom late this year before starting its ascent.
As a levered bet on Bitcoin, Strategy's business model provides a unique opportunity for investors who are bullish on the cryptocurrency. While there is significant risk involved, particularly in terms of volatility, Strategy has a better chance of surging 10x in the coming decade than Nvidia does.
