Bitcoin BIP-110 Activation Fails Amid Low Miner Support

The Bitcoin network has entered a mandatory signaling phase for BIP-110, a proposed soft fork, at block 961,632. However, this attempt at activation has been met with less than 3% miner support.

Nodes enforcing BIP-110 began rejecting blocks that did not set version bit 4, but the enforcing branch was unable to produce a third block hours after mandatory signaling began. The dominant chain reached block 961,744 while the enforcing branch remained stuck on the two-block chain.

Crypto News reported that about 99.85% of Bitcoin's hashpower stayed with Bitcoin, framing the result as decisive even as the enforcing branch stalled. TradingView described how a minority BIP-110 branch emerged but quickly fell behind the dominant chain.
