Bitcoin BIP-110 Soft Fork Gains Traction as Deadline Looms
Bitcoin's proposed BIP-110 soft fork is gaining traction as miners signal support, but it's unclear if major mining pools will switch. The proposal aims to limit data fields in Bitcoin transactions, primarily targeting inscriptions and oversized payloads. As of July 27, 2026, signaling stands at around 2.64%, up from below 1% a few weeks ago.
The increase is largely driven by independent miners and smaller operators, with Ocean leading the way. However, major pools like Foundry, Antpool, ViaBTC, and F2pool have not moved to support BIP-110. Foundry's client vote will determine its stance, but so far, there's been no indication of a shift.
Once block 961632 arrives, nodes enforcing BIP-110 will reject non-signaling blocks, potentially leading to a chain split. Supporters argue that inscriptions and oversized payloads are becoming increasingly common, putting pressure on the network. The proposal has gained some momentum, but its fate remains uncertain as the mandatory signaling window approaches.
